Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif here on Tuesday presided over a meeting in which progress of the healthcare system and provision of better medical facilities to the people was discussed. The chief minister approved the purchase of incinerators for 36 districts. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that measures are being taken to provide better healthcare facilities to the people and it is the responsibility of us all to ensure the provision of comfort to the distressed.
He said a comprehensive program has been made to provide medicines to the patients at their homes and under the first phase of this program hepatitis patients will be provided medicines at their homes. He said that the measures should be taken to provide medicines to the heart patients at their doorstep and an immediate action is required in this regard.
He said this is the program of high importance and great service to the patients suffering from heart diseases; this program will also help in reducing the number of patients flocking to hospitals. This patients-friendly program should be completed on priority basis in shortest time possible, he added. Shehbaz Sharif said that the Punjab government is in the process of establishing a modern warehouse to store medicines as per international standards and the cold chain management system is being introduced in this regard.
