The Lahore High Court Chief Justice Tuesday constituted a full bench to hear petition of Idara Minhajul Quran against the order of an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) for not summoning Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and others over the charges of Model Town's killings. Justice Yawar Ali will head the 3-member bench in which Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Abdul Sami Khan are also included. That LHC bench will hear the petition.
Jawad Hamid of Idara Minhajul Quran has made Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, MNAs Hamza Shehbaz, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Abid Sher Ali, Chaudhry Nisar Ali, Pervaiz Rashid and others as respondents in the petition.
The petitioner, through his counsel Rai Bashir Ahmad, said that ATC had decided to try 124 other officials including Punjab IGP Mushtaq Sukhera and former DCO Lahore Muhammad Usman and did not summon Prime Minister and other respondents over the charges of killing innocent people in Model Town.
