District administration Peshawar arrested 67 persons during crackdown against profiteers in different parts of the city while a manager of filing station was arrested for filling less petrol than the fixed quantity. The arrested profiteers were included fresh vegetables, fruits, bakers (nanbais), grocers, cooked tea sellers, butchers and others.
On the directives of Deputy Commissioner (DC), Peshawar, Saqib Raza Aslam, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Fayyaz Sherpao along with Assistant Director, Anjuman Sarfeen, Said Badshah checked different Kabab shops on Charsadda Road and arrested five Kabab sellers for overcharging the people. In further checking, they also arrested 8 persons for profiteering and selling of under-weight Roti from Charsadda Road.
The officials of the district administration also checked different petrol pumps and arrested the manager of one filling station for filling less petrol than the required quantity. Similarly, Additional Assistant Commissioner (AAC), Imran Khan paid surprise visit to General Bus Stands and arrested 15 persons for poor cleanliness conditions and substandard food items. He carried out the checking of different shops in Gulbahar area and arrested 17 more for selling under-weight roti, adulterated tea leaf and violation of official price list. Furthermore, AAC Abdul Nabi and Syed Shahzeb conducted checking in different markets of Hayatabad and arrested 22 persons for overcharging. During the operation, the samples of fresh milk were also collected from different markets.
