Supreme Court (SC) has formed seven benches to hear important cases in its principal seat during the week commencing March 27 but an announcement of a verdict in the Panama papers is not mentioned. Talking to Business Recorder, former vice chairman of the Supreme Court Bar Association Ikram Chaudhry said that there is a strong possibility that the judgement on the Panama papers would be announced next week; and simply require fixing the case in the supplementary cause list a day in advance.
On February 23, a five member larger bench of Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa observed, while reserving judgement in Panama papers case, that the court would not announce a short order as every aspect of the matter has to be examined. Some Supreme Court lawyers argue that the verdict may be announced after Justice Amir Hani Muslim retires on April 1st, or in the week commencing April 3rd.
