Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 246,866 tonnes of cargo comprising 186,019 tonnes of import cargo and 60,847 tonnes of export cargo including 7,939 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 186,019 tonnes comprised of 89,864 tonnes of containerised cargo; 25,193 tonnes of general cargo; 52,819 tonnes of bulk cargo: 31,000 tonnes of coal; 4,079 tonnes of soyabean meal; 14,650 tonnes of rock phosphate; 3,090 tonnes of palm kernel expeller and 18,143 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 60,847 tonnes comprised of 60,847 tonnes of containerised cargo and 000 tonnes of general cargo and 000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,939 containers comprising of 2,871 containers import and 5,068 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,008 of 20's and 874 of 40's loaded while 115 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 943 of 20's and 600 of 40's loaded containers while 647 of 20's and 1,139 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely UAFL Zanzibar, Prosper, Cosco Fukuyama and CMA CGM Puget carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. MSC Chiara, Express Black Sea, Taroko, Seaspan Lahore, Good Luck-1 and Gl Lan Xiu carrying containers, rock phosphate and livestock respectively currently at the berths. There was one ship namely IVS Pinehurst carrying coal sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while two ships namely Taroko and Elka Delphi carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.
There were three vessels viz. Everrich-7, Tom Trinity and Patriot carrying chemical, mogas and coal respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while five vessels viz. Kota Kamil, Ever Diamond, Pacific Horizon-II, Everrich-1 and Kiran China carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 93,101 tonnes includes 24,172 tonnes of furnace oil; 9,100 tonnes of palm oil; 24,425 tonnes of coal; 3,976 tonnes of soyabean meal; 4,999 tonnes of chemical and 20,045 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 43,851 tonnes includes 43,851 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,363 containers comprising of 1,055 containers import and 2,308 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. There were five ships namely CV Al Asya, CV Jack London, MV Chance, MV GSW Forward and MT Bunga Alamanda carrying containers, coal, chemical and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while another ship namely CV Al-Safat carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Jack London, CV Al Asya, CV Al-Safat, MV Pacific Award, MV Fuming, MV Chance, MV GSW Forward, MT Karachi and MT Bunga Alamanda currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, coal, chemical, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve ships namely CV Maersk Detroit, CV CMA CGM Amazon, MV Ji Xian Song, MT Bneider, MT Al Dasma, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Elandra Palm, MT Shalamar. MT Lahore, MT Brizo, MT CH Zephyr and MT Argent Cosmos carrying containers, project cargo, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV Maersk Detroit, CV CMA CGM Amazon and MT Argent Cosmos carrying containers and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There were three ships namely CV Tino, CV Hansa America and MV JI Xiang Song carrying containers and project cargo respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while two ships namely CV Maersk Savannah and MV Da Liang carrying containers and project cargo respectively due to arrive on Wednesday. There are four ships namely CV Priority, CV MSC Veronique, MV Berlin and MT Duhail carrying containers, bulk cargo and LNG respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
