The financial assistance of Rs 1.94 million out of Zakat funds has been distributed among the 46 deserving students of Punjab Vocational Institutions in the district under Sustainable Economic Empowerment Programme (SEEP) for self employment.
In this connection, a ceremony was held here at Jinnah Hall of District Council in which Punjab Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Rana Sanaullah Khan was the chief guest. Chairman District Zakat Committee Nazir Hussain Bajwa, President Board of Management of Vocational Training Institutions/Vice President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce Ahmad Hassan, Area Manager Malik Muhammad Hanif, Vice Chairman District Council Rana Zulfiqar and others were present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan said the Punjab govt was utilizing funds under development and welfare heads fairly and judiciously for the socio economic development of the country. He said that a number of welfare policies were being followed by the Punjab govt for the rehabilitation and betterment of deprived segment of the society. He maintained and said Punjab Education Endowment Fund (PEEF) was a remarkable and revolutionary step of CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif for providing educational scholarships to the talented and deserving students for continuing their education even in Foreign Universities.
He said under this programme no students would be deprived of higher education due to financial constraints and more than 150,000 students were taking benefits from the PEEF. He also highlighted the importance and significance of the Danish Schools and said poor students were being provided quality education in those schools as per the standard of top class schools of the country.
The Law Minister congratulating the pass out students of Vocational Training Institutions and stressed upon the recipients of the financial assistance to develop their small business with full confidence and do work very hard for the progress of their families and contributing in national development. He lauded the performance and working of the District Zakat Committee for transparent distribution of Zakat funds.
Earlier, Chairman District Zakat Committee Nazir Hussain Bajwa welcomed chief guest Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan and gave details of the different welfare schemes running under Zakat funds. He informed that the deserving pass out students of Vocational Training Institutions were being provided financial assistance upto Rs 1 lac for starting their employment in different trades.
President Board of Management Ahmad Hassan also spoke on the occasion and said the imparting the youths with different vocational skills was a tremendous step of the present govt to overcome the issue of unemployment. He said the Vocational Training Institutions were playing very important and vital role to produce the skillful youths. He thanked the chief guest for participating in the ceremony for distribution of cheques of financial assistance.
