11th Food Technology Asia-2017 kicks off

As many as 200 international and domestic exhibitors are showcasing their products and services in the 11th Food Technology Asia-2017 which began here at Karachi Expo Centre on Monday. The three-day mega show, the event organisers said, would see visits of some 150 foreign delegates from more than 20 countries including China, Hungary, Italy, Iran, Turkey, UK, Taiwan, Korea etc.
Abdul Raheem Janoo, Patron-in-Chief Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the event while Ambassador of Hungary to Pakistan Szabo Istvan, Rafiq Suleman Ex-Chairman REAP, Saqib Magoon Vice President FPCCI, Mehmud Moulvi Chairman REAP and others also attended the ceremony.
Janoo said the exhibition incorporated rice technology, plastic packaging & print and agriculture sector technologies. "It is for the first time that a specialized exhibition is being organised which shall increase Pakistan's food sector technological development which in turn will produce better quality of food products and ultimately facilitate the export of rice and other food products to the world," he said.
The major problem of the country is that its exports are declining consistently from the last few years. However, this show, he said, would help enhance the export volume as various international business delegations are visiting the exhibition. The other sectors being focused are of plastic and packaging along with agricultural equipments for enhanced technological advancements in each sector ultimately helping in adding value to the Pakistani products for export market as well as for local consumption.
Hungarian Ambassador on this occasion said that different companies of his country were showcasing their food, agriculture, and energy etc related products and technology in the show.
That increasing presence, he said, a reflection of true friendship of the both countries and his government's commitment to strengthen the trade ties with Pakistan. "On my invitation, a delegation of REAP is visiting Hungary this year in July," he said. The visit would reap some good fruits in terms of bilateral trade enhancement for the both friendly countries, he said. The event has been organised by Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan the only UFI (Paris) Approved Event Organiser of Pakistan which would conclude on March 22.
