My Dear fellow citizens, today I want to speak to every one of you; today I want to tell you that today our country starts to undertake an important, an essential national exercise: the 2017 Housing and Population Census. The census is the unique tool that democratic nations have to understand properly their populations. And by understanding the population we can plan accordingly:
We can develop the policies and programmes based on real information to design a better tomorrow for you all. Indeed, Pakistan wants to prepare the best future for the country and its citizens, and it is by participating honestly and openly that you will all help us preparing this future. From 15th March to 25th May 2017, trained and dedicated enumerators are going to visit your household to ask you all a series of very important questions: respond to all of them; they will always be kept confidential, and no information will be ever disclosed, the enumerators are under secrecy oath, and the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics guaranties the confidentiality of collected information.
The enumerators are going to ask you details on all the people who usually reside in your household: declare all of them, as we ALL count! Do not forget anybody: pay attention to correctly declare all the women in your household, all the babies, all the older persons, and all those who suffer from disabilities.
This is a paramount National exercise which goes far beyond politics: indeed the census is an independent technical exercise and all in the country agree on its importance: please my dear fellow citizen, agree as well and be counted! You are the forces of the country, and the key to a successful census: I am sure you will step-up to this easy exercise by welcoming the enumerators to your household, and responding truthfully to all of the questions; I do know I can count on you all!
