Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 156,123 tonnes of cargo comprising 122,216 tonnes of import cargo and 33,907 tonnes of export cargo including 7,741 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 122,216 tonnes comprised of 73,856 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14,198 tonnes of general cargo; 26,762 tonnes of bulk cargo: 23,659 tonnes of coal; 3,103 tonnes of soyabean meal and 7,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 33,907 tonnes comprised of 24,907 tonnes of containerised cargo and 9,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,741 containers comprising of 4,938 containers import and 2,803 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,774 of 20's and 1,482 of 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and 99 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 757 of 20's and 186 of 40's loaded containers while 646 of 20's and 514 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were four ships namely X-Press Kailash, CMA CGM Eiffel, Pacific Trust and Da Yu Xia carrying containers, fertilizer and general cargo sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. Cosco Haifa, Northern Dependant, MSC Tasmania, Gui Chi, MT Quetta, Chemroad Fuji and Spar Corona carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were three ships namely MSC Tasmania, Wide India and Spar Corona carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday.
There were four vessels viz. Bellavia, Kota Karim, Bahri Yanbu and Grand Race carrying containers, vehicle and package respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while another vessel viz. Good Luck-1 carrying rock phosphate is due to arrive on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 87,387 tonnes includes 17,634 tonnes of diesel oil; 15,000 tonnes of LNG; 11,513 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 10,953 tonnes of chemical; 6,694 tonnes of slag and 25,593 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 57,467 tonnes includes 2,234 tonnes of sand and 55,233 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 4,254 containers comprising of 1,347 containers import and 2,907 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There were two ships namely MT Glorious and MT Gaslog Glasgow carrying diesel oil and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while three more ships namely CV Maersk Kingston, MV Ocean Quartz and MV Mid Fortune carrying containers, slag and chemical respectively are expected to sail on the same day.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Maupassant, CV Maersk Kingston, CV ER Tian Ping, CV Al Ghero, CV Al Manama, MV Chance, MV Ocean Quartz, MV Spectrum-5, MV Mid Fortune, MT Glorious and MT Gaslog Glasgow currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, condensate, sand, slag, chemical, soyabean seeds, chemical, LNG and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve ships namely MV YM Miranda, MV Fuming, MT Bneider, MT Al Dasma, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Karachi, MT Torm Valborg, MT Harmony-1, MT Shalamar. MT Lahore, MT Brizo and MT CH Zephyr carrying chemical, coal, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. MV Baltic Winter, MV YM Miranda and MT Harmony-1 carrying project cargo, chemical and furnace oil respectively expected to take berths at Multi Purpose Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There was one ship namely CV Maersk Semarang carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday while two ships namely CV Suez Canal and MV Industrial Charger carrying containers and project cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
