The prices of essential kitchen items remained stable during the past week as compared to the preceding week, a survey carried out by Business Recorder revealed on Saturday. According to the survey details, the prices of tomatoes, onions, potatoes, ginger, garlic, all range of pulses, wheat flour, spices, ghee/cooking oil and most of the other daily use items remained unchanged.
Onion is being available at Rs 150 per 5kg in the wholesale market, which in the retail is being available at Rs 40 per kg; potatoes are available at Rs 1,600 per quintal and these are being sold at Rs 30 per kg in the retail market. Tomatoes are being sold at Rs 200 per 5kg in the wholesale market which are being available at Rs 50 per kg in the retail market.
Ginger is being available at Rs 600 per 5kg in the wholesale market, which is being sold at Rs 140 per kg in the retail market; garlic at Rs 1,350 per 5kg which is still being sold at Rs 300 per kg in the retail market. Chinese garlic is being available at Rs 1,250 per 5kg in the wholesale market and is being sold at Rs 280 per kg in the retail market. The price of lemon remained stable at Rs 200 per 5kg and it is being sold at Rs 60 per kg in the retail market.
Prices of all the major pulses were found stable last week, as daal maash is being sold at Rs 160 per kg, channa at Rs 170 per kg, lobia at Rs 100-120 per kg, mong at Rs 120 per kg, and masoor at Rs 110 per kg. The prices of rice remained stable as best quality of Basmati rice is being sold at Rs 120 per kg against the normal quality of rice which is available at Rs 70 per kg.
During the week under review, chicken price remained stable at Rs 5,500 per 40kg in the wholesale market, while live chicken is being available at Rs 155 per kg in the retail market. Chicken meat is being sold at Rs 260 per kg. No significant change was witnessed in the price of egg as 12 eggs being available at Rs 100 in the wholesale market and its price is Rs 110 in the retail market. Sugar price remained stable at Rs 3,100 per 50kg bag, which is being sold at Rs 67-70 per kg in the retail market. A bag of 20kg of normal quality of wheat flour is being available at Rs 750. Brinjal price went down from Rs 400 to Rs 250 per 5kg in the wholesale market and it is being available at Rs 70 against Rs 90 per kg in the retail market.
The price of carrot remained stable at Rs 150 per 5kg and it is being sold at Rs 35 per kg in the retail market. Cucumber is being available at Rs 100 per 5kg and it is being sold at 30 per kg in the retail market. A pack of 8kg radish is being available at Rs 100 per pack in the wholesale market and it is being sold at Rs 15 per kg in retail outlets.
Okra price went up from Rs 350 to Rs 400 per 5kg and it is being sold at Rs 90 against Rs 80 per kg in the retail market, while peas price further went down from Rs 180 to Rs 150 per 5kg, which is being sold at Rs 40 against Rs 45 per kg in the retail market.
Tinda is being available at Rs 150 per 5kg, which is being sold at Rs 40 per kg in the retail market, maro kaddu is being available at Rs 300 per 5kg and kaddu at Rs 350 per 5kg in the wholesale market, while in the retail maro kaddu is being sold at Rs 70 per kg and kaddu is being sold at Rs 80 per kg.
Karaila's price remained stable at Rs 800 per 5kg and it is being sold at Rs 200 per kg in the retail market. The price of arvi went down from Rs 400 to Rs 300 per 5kg and it is being sold at Rs 70 against Rs 90 per kg in the retail market. Cauliflower price remained stable at Rs 100 per 5kg which in retail market is being sold at Rs 30 per kg, while cabbage at Rs 100 per 5kg which in retail is being sold at Rs 30 per kg. Capsicum further price went down from Rs 400 to Rs 240 per 5kg which in retail market is being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 100 per kg, beans price also further went down from Rs 250 to Rs 200 per 5kg, which in retail market are being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 60 per kg.
The survey observed that the prices of entire range of fruits remained stable in the market as Iranian apple is being sold at Rs 170 per kg, Chinese apple at Rs 200 per kg, local best quality apple Kala Kolu at Rs 140 per kg, golden apple at Rs 120 per kg and normal quality Ambri apple at Rs 80 per kg.
Best quality Indian banana is being sold at Rs 150 per dozen, normal quality at Rs 120 per dozen, best quality local banana at Rs 110 per dozen while normal quality at Rs 60 per dozen. Best quality Guava at Rs 100 per kg, while normal quality at Rs 70 per kg. Different qualities of oranges remained in the range of Rs 50-190 per dozen. New arrival best quality melons are being available at Rs 70 per kg and strawberry at Rs 250 per kg.
