The Karachi Port handled 94,085 tonnes of cargo comprising 73,260 tonnes of import cargo and 20,825 tonnes of export cargo including 5,360 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 73,260 tonnes comprised of 42,089 tonnes of containerised cargo; 22,021 tonnes of bulk cargo: 14,108 tonnes of coal; 1,631 tonnes of sunflower seeds; 6,292 tonnes of palm kernel expeller and 9,150 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 20,825 tonnes comprised of 13,290 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10 tonnes of general cargo; 7,525 tonnes of bulk cargo: 3,125 tonnes of iron powder and 4,400 tonnes of barium sulphate. As many as 5,360 containers comprising of 3,388 containers import and 1,972 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 923 of 20's and 1,092 of 40's loaded while 269 of 20's and 06 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 313 of 20's and 200 of 40's loaded containers while 249 of 20's and 505 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were four ships namely Lissy Schulte, Taroko, Olivia and Ever Reliance carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. Alexandria Bridge, Lissy Schulte, Wan Hai-506, Stolt Endurance, Amis Wisdom-1 and Jin Run carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively currently at the berths. There were three ships namely Wan Hai-506, OOCL California and Puma carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Friday.
There were three vessels viz. Pacific Beryl, Al Mahboobah and Da Cai Yun carrying oil tanker, chemical and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday while eight vessels viz. Prosper, CMA CGM Eiffel, Hamburg Bay, Positive Pioneer, Glovis Solomon, Pacific Award, Amber Alena and Da Yu Xia carrying containers, vehicle, coal and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
As many as 5,443 containers comprising of 2,141 containers import and 3,302 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There was one ship namely MT Umm Bab carrying LNG sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while three more ships namely CV CMA CGM Maupassant, MT Gaschem Antartic and MT Bunga Azalea carrying containers, LNG and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Maupassant, CV Maersk Salina, CV MSC Didem, CV Sea Hymn, MV Chance, MV Ocean Quartz, MV Gas Chem Antarctic, MT Globe Tanya, MT Umm Bab and MT Bunga Azalea currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, condensate, canola seeds, chemical, slag, LNG, LPG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen ships namely CV Tucapel, MV Chemroad Hope, MV Bochem Antwerp, MT Ardmore Sealion, MT Glorious, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Al Dasma, MT Karachi, MT Torm Valborg, MT Harmony-1, MT Shalamar, MT Lahore and MT Bunga Aster carrying containers, canola seeds, phosphoric acid, mao gas, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV Tucapel, CV Uni Florida, MV Chemroad Hope and MT Bunga Aster carrying containers, phosphoric acid and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were nine ships namely CV Maersk Salina, CV MSC Al Ghero, MV Baltic Winter, MV Bochem Antwerp, MV Pacific Award, MT Al-Saad, MT Fuming, MT Gas Chem Antartic and MT Torm Valborg carrying containers, project cargo, coal, chemical, LNG, LPG and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Friday. There is one ship namely CV Safmarine Ngami carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday, while two more ships namely CV MSC Rita and MV YM Miranda carrying containers and chemical are due to arrive on Sunday. There is one ship namely MT Bneider carrying diesel oil due to arrive on Monday.
