The Punjab Wildlife & Parks Department has earned revenue of Rs 47.5 million during the first nine month of the current financial year. The department has been assigned a task of Rs 65 million for the current fiscal by the department to be collected under different heads including challans, departmental fee, sale of animals and birds or licensing.
This was disclosed at a meeting of all the 10 regions of the department held here on Thursday to review the progress on developmental projects, revenue receipts and other affairs. Director General Khalid Ayyaz Khan chaired the meeting while other participants include Deputy Director (HQ) Muhammad Naeem Bhatti, Director Lahore Zoo Chaudhary Shafqat Ali, Deputy Director Safari Zoo Syed Zafar Ul Hassan and others. Expressing his satisfaction over the pace of revenue generation, Khalid Ayyaz Khan asked the officers to improve it further.
He also directed the officers to utilise funds for completing developmental projects in the stipulated time. He warned those who would show leniency would be dealt with an iron hand. The meeting also reviewed the proposal of setting up a mini zoo in Bhakkar at a cost of Rs 190 million and developmental works being carried out in Jallo Wildlife Park, Lahore Zoo, Johar Abad Wildlife Park, Safari Zoo and Bansra Galli.
