The Lahore High Court on Monday dismissed a bail application of former Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon facing corruption reference before an accountability court of Karachi. The petitioner's counsel sought protective bail to Memon as he wanted to appear before the accountability court. He said his client is in Dubai and he might be arrested on his return to the country.
The National Accountability Bureau Prosecutor opposing the petition said Memon did not specify the cases for bail. He further argued that the petitioner did not appear before the court, a mandatory provision to seek a protective bail.
The court, after hearing both the sides, dismissed the petition and observed that the petitioner may approach the Sindh High Court for relief.
