The Senate on Monday passed a unanimous resolution against the catch phrase 'Islamic terrorism,' frequently used by US President Donald Trump while referring to terrorists misusing the name of Islam. The resolution moved by Senator Rehman Malik of Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) was unanimously adopted by the House that stated: "This House shows its concern on the phrase "Islamic terrorism" being used by the US President Donald Trump."
Through the resolution, the lawmakers in Senate called upon the US Ambassador to Pakistan to convey the concerns of people of Pakistan in this regard and request Trump to stop using the word 'Islamic terrorism.'
Another resolution moved by Senator Azam Khan Swati of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) condemned recent terrorist attack on a mosque in Quebec in Canada that killed six people. The resolution was also passed by the House.
A similar resolution, moved by Senator Hafiz Hamdullah of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), condemning the recent attacks on mosques in US and Canada was also passed. They declared the attacks sheer violation of international human rights charter.
They urged the US and Canadian governments to take steps for protection of religious freedom of Muslims. "The House demands the government of Pakistan to raise this issue on all international forums including UNO and OIC to stop such incidents against Muslims," the resolution added.
A resolution moved by Senator Mudassir Seher Kamran of PPPP, recommending the government to take necessary steps to register minors in domestic employment and the street children in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) and to protect their fundamental rights as guaranteed in the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, was also passed.
The House recommended the government to take effective steps for welfare and protection of deprived children in ICT and provide them education and basic necessities of life to make them useful citizens.
"The House urges upon the government to strictly implement the laws regarding child labour, child protection and child abuse in ICT and award severe punishment to those found violating the same," it added.
