The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Sindh Police claimed to have killed a suspected Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) terrorist and arrested his four accomplices from Mehran Town of Korangi Area, here on Monday. Police said the terrorists were involved in numerous attacks in the metropolis including one attack at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), near Kala Pul and another in Dehli Colony.
According to CTD Incharge Raja Umar Khatab, the terrorist who lost life in the encounter was identified as Dildaar alias Chacha-an expert in making explosive material. He was the head of the sleeper cell of the banned LeJ and was also involved in attacks on naval bases.
The DIG CTD Amir Farooqui told the media that the militants were planning terrorist attack; however, CTD police on a tip-off conducted a timely raid at their hideout. A large amount of explosive material, detonators and weapons were also seized.
