The government on Friday removed director Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad, from his post who was heading some high profile corruption inquires against some top government officials. An official source said that Director FIA Islamabad Dr Mazhar-ul-Haq Kakakhel, a grade-20 officer has been asked to report to the headquarters. Kakakhel has started inquiries against Deputy Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Imtiaz Tajwar and Chairman National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Usman Mobin for their alleged involvement in corruption cases.
Sources said that Kakakhel was also investigating some cases related to Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority (ERRA), Capital Development Authority (CDA), human smuggling, Soan Garden Housing Society and La Montana Restaurant. "Kakakhel was removed from his post by the higher authorities without bringing it into the notice of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan," they mentioned.
According to a notification issued by the Establishment Division, the acting charge appointment to BS-20 of Dr Mazhar-ul-Haq Kakakhel, an officer of Police Service of Pakistan presently serving in FIA under Interior Division, is discontinued and withdrawn with immediate effect. It said that on discontinuation and withdrawal, Dr Mazhar will remain at the disposal of the FIA until further order.
