The government has decided to appoint and transfer certain ambassadors in different world capitals including India, Afghanistan, Turkey and Japan, it was learnt. According to sources, Asad Majeed Khan who is currently serving as Additional Secretary America Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been nominated to be Pakistan's new ambassador to Japan. Asad Majeed Khan would be replacing Farrukh Amil who is currently serving as Pakistan Ambassador to Japan while the later has been given a new diplomatic assignment in Turkey as Pakistan's new envoy.
The sources further said that a decision has been taken to appoint Sohail Mehmood as Pakistan's new High Commissioner in India. Sohail Mehmood is currently serving as Pakistan ambassador to Turkey. Incumbent High Commissioner in New Delhi, Abdul Basit has been given responsibilities at the headquarters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they added.
They further said that Zahid Nasrullah has been nominated as Pakistan's new Ambassador to Afghanistan while Syed Abrar Hussain, who is currently serving as Pakistan envoy in Kabul, has also been given a new responsibility at the headquarters. Zahid Nasrullah is currently serving as Pakistan Ambassador to South Korea.
