The Karachi Port handled 154,739 tonnes of cargo comprising 119,121 tonnes of import cargo and 35,618 tonnes of export cargo including c loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 119,121 tonnes comprised of 36,568 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,025 tonnes of general cargo; 11,596 tonnes of bulk cargo: 6,533 tonnes of DAP; 2,165 tonnes of sunflower seeds; 1,932 tonnes of palm kernel expeller and 68,932 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 35,618 tonnes comprised of 23,567 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,061 tonnes of general cargo; 5,490 tonnes of iron powder and 5,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 35,618 containers comprising of 2,203 containers import and 2,108 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 942 of 20's and 555 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 75 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 708 of 20's and 292 of 40's loaded containers while 88 of 20's and 364 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Cosco Boston, APL Japan, MT Lahore, Formosa Falcon, Izumo and Da Hong Xia carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. Kota Kasturi, MSC Krittika, Adele Marina Rizzo and Pacific Trust carrying containers, oil tanker and fertilizer respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Northern Dependant, Kota Kasturi and Chong Ming carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while another ship namely Adele Marina Rizzo carrying oil tanker is expected to sail on Friday.
There were two vessels viz. Cosco Wellington and MT Quetta carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Thursday while eight vessels viz. MOL Endowment, Xin Zhang Zhou, Al Abdali, GH Seabiscuit, Selin-D, Spar Libra, Heilan Ewuil Brium and Rainbow carrying containers, SB meal, molasses, coal and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
There were two ships namely CV MSC Mykonos and MT Bunga Akasa carrying containers and palm oil sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely CV MSC Silvana and MT Maria-III carrying containers and LPG are expected to sail on the same day.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV MSC Mykonos, CV Maersk Memphis, CV MSC Silvana, MT Nordic Gas, MT Maria-III, MT Al-Soor-II and MT Bunga Akasa currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eleven ships namely CV CMA CGM Corneille, MV Chance, MV Gas Chem Antarctic, MT Ardmore Sealion, MT Ghetty Bottiglieri, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Karachi, MT Pacific Energy, MT Harmony-1, Grand Ace-12 and MT Straum carrying containers, canola seeds, chemical, mao gas, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Corneille and MT Straum carrying containers and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday. There were five ships namely CV CMA CGM Corneille, CV MSC Mykonos, CV Hermes, CV Sea Hymn and MT Shalamar carrying containers and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday. There are two ships namely CV Maersk Innoshima and CV Tolten carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
