Kohat clinched the overall trophy of by securing 85 points in the ongoing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inter-District Kohat Region Boys Games concluded here on Thursday. Deputy Commissioner Kohat Muhammad Akmal Khan, Director Operation Tariq Mehmood gave away trophies and cash prizes of the 15 different disciplines part of the overall Games. Director Development Syed Saqlain Shah, DSOs Sikander Shah (Kohat), Ismail Khan (Karak), Naseer Khan (Hangu), Zakir Khan (Nowshera), officials, office-bearers of various association headed by Muhammad Faqir Awan, players and large number spectators were also present.
District Karak took second position by registering 65 points and Hangu remained at third with 45 points. Host Kohat bagged 10 gold medals and three silver medals by securing 85 points, District Karak won five gold medals and six silver medals and recorded 65 points while Hangu struggled at third with 45 points.
On the last day in Athletic District Karak claimed the overall trophy by securing six gold medals, five silver medals and one bronze medal. Karak got 29 points. Kohat with five gold medals and three silver medals and one bronze medal took 24 points while Hangu remained at third with four silver medal and eight bronze medals by taking 15 points.
In the hockey event Kohat beat Hangu by 3-0. Haris, Bilal and Atif scored one goal each in the 14th, 29th and 49th minute on the field attempts, in the badminton Kohat beat Hangu by 3-0, beat Karak in Tennis by 2-0, in Basketball Kohat beat Karak by 45-42, in volleyball Hangu beat Karak by 3-0, the score was 25-21, 25-20 and 27-25.
In the Karate Kohat beat Karak in the closely contestant encounter, the score was 85-65, in the gymnastic Kohat recorded 125 points by winning first position, followed by Karak and Hangu with 86 points and 72 points respectively. There was great thrill witnessed as hundreds and thousands turned up with Karak won the final by 33-18 points.
In the Wrestling, Squash, Table Tennis also won by Kohat, the Karak teams won the trophies of Football when it defeated Hangu by 3-0, Hangu took the titles of Hockey, Badminton, Volleyball, Tug of War and got silver medal in Gymnastic and Kabaddi.
At the end, the DC Kohat Muhammad Akmal Khan and Tariq Mehmood gave away trophies and cash prizes to the winners and runners-up. The winner awarded Rs 20,000 and the runners-up got 15000 cash prize.
