The eighth meeting of Board of Governors of University of Wah was held on 28 February, 2017 at UW Seminar Hall. Chairman POFs Board and Chairman Board of Governors, University of Wah, Lieutenant General Omar Mahmood Hayat HI (M) presided over the meeting. Vice Chancellor, University of Wah Professor Khaliq ur Rehman Shad SI (M) presented major milestones achieved by the University since the last BOG meeting and the progress was appreciated. Different academic, financial and administrative decisions were taken by the Board.
Board of Governors approved launch of PhD programmes in Biosciences, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Education. Start of MS programmes in Civil, Chemical, Mechatronics Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, Computer Sciences, Management and two years MBA were also approved from academic year 2017. Furthermore, the MS programmes in Economics and Psychology which commenced in 2016 were also approved. Additionally, the consolidated "University Rules and Regulations" were granted unanimous approval. The BOG also gave its consent to proposed amendment in The First Statutes of UW and proposal for floating minor amendment in UW Act 2009. The approval was also accorded for induction of new faculty and staff recommended by the by two Selection Boards.
Chairman Board of Governors was appreciative of the efforts of the university management in materialising and developing University's infrastructure in line with its vision and adhering to merit both in hiring and offering admissions. He admired the focused and directional endeavours of the management and faculty in rapid advancement of the academic programmes. The Chairman emphasised on further strengthening of the academic programmes and research to place the University among leading higher educational institutions of the country.-PR
