The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) on Thursday approved regularization of services of 20 district physiotherapists (DPs) who were appointed on test basis by Khyber Pakthunkhwa (KP) government and approved 30 more vacancies of district physiotherapists. Talking to media, Chairman, Board of Director (BoD) Pakistan Physiotherapists Association (PPA) Dr Mehboob ur Rehman said that 20 DPs including four females and 16 males were appointed in district hospitals under Strengthening of rehabilitation services for physically disabled.
Rehman maintained that around 41,215 patients were offered services from December 2015 to March 2017, while at least 2,000 patients received assistance at the centres established in the northern districts during the last six months. "We need at least 32 more staff members with 21 female and nine male physiotherapists," he said and 30 posts including 20 females and eights males have been approved by PDWP.
Later, in a press release issued by information department it was confirmed that PDWP approved strengthening of the rehabilitation services for physically disabled at Health Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said the 20 DPs were appointed on test basis in 2015 for two years term in all district hospitals.
