National Assembly Standing Committee on Water and Power on Thursday deferred "Indus River System Authority (IRSA) (Amendment) Bill, 2017" due to the absence of the mover. The committee which met under the chairmanship of Junaid Anwar Chaudhary decided to consider the Bill in its forth-coming meeting. The committee also discussed the issue of non-payment of salaries to the officers/officials of Vigilance Directorate of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA).
The officials of Ministry of Water and Power informed the committee that the matter is sub-judice before the High Court and Ministry is trying to resolve the matter outside the court. The committee appreciated the efforts of the Ministry for resolving the matter to avoid the unnecessary litigation.
