Confiscation of Musharraf's properties: Special Court fixes hearing for March 11

The Special Court trying former army chief and President Pervez Musharraf under high treason charges has fixed the hearing of the matter for March 11 in response to plea of Pervez Musharraf's wife, challenging confiscation of her husband's properties and freezing of bank accounts after he failed to appear before the court.
On July 17 last year the Special Court had passed order for the confiscation of Musharraf's movable and immovable properties. In its five-page order the court said that it cannot proceed until the accused is apprehended or surrendered, and his statement under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.PC) is recorded.
It is pertinent to mention that recently the federal government has notified Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Yahya Afridi as new head of the Special Court. Earlier, Justice Faisal Arab of the Sindh High Court and Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel of the Peshawar High Court were part of the Special bench. However, both the judges have been elevated being judges of the apex court, whereas other incumbent members of the Special court include Justice Syeda Tahira Safdar and Justice Yawar Ali.
Talking to Business Recorder, Faisal Chaudhry, counsel for Sehba Musharraf said that the Special Court has fixed the hearing of the matter for March 11. Chaudhry said that he had earlier filed objections over the Special Court's order, saying that Musharraf had left the country on medical grounds and as soon as his medical treatment is completed, he will return back to the country. He submitted that under the fact, Pervez Musharraf may not be treated as an absconder and the entire proceedings against him in this regard may kindly be recalled.
