Displaced families from Renao Parchao repatriated to home towns
A large number of residents, belonging to Renao Parchao of Loy-Shelman, the bordering zone between Pakistan and Afghanistan who had displaced due to military action against militants were repatriated to their home towns. According to the administration and the forces officials following fresh wave of militancy in the country, the forces initiated an arm offence and targeted the suspected hideouts of militants with heavy artillery, located at the bordering area of Loy-Shelman, the remote area of tehsil Landi Kotal.
To ensure safety and security of the dwellers of Samsay, Sheenpokh and Narai Kula who were in direct firing range from a possible shelling of militants across the border were asked to vacate their houses and shift to safer places. The tribal partially left their residents and took refuge in Loy-Shelman.
However after restoration of calmness in the area, the displaced persons were permitted to move back and according to the administration official numbers of temporary displaced people were went back to their homes.
The displaced persons expressed their regret over the neglected behavior of the government and in time of need they were ignored as no emergency package were announced for them. Meanwhile, the Torkham border was remained seal on the 9th consecutive day and all movement was restricted on the Western border of the country. However, the 252 Afghan citizens stranded in Landi Kotal for the last eight days were let to cross the Torkham border to Afghanistan. After clearing their travelling documents the Afghan nationals were permitted to move to their home towns across the border.
The border gate was closed over law and order concerns after increasing terror incidents in Pakistan. The political administration of Khyber Agency said that 252 Afghan nationals were allowed to travel to Afghanistan on Friday after their registration as a goodwill gesture. Fifty-nine more Afghans were also sent to their country earlier.
Not only the common people, but transporters are also facing difficulties due to the closure of the border and a huge quantity of food items in the stranded vehicles has been wasted. Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has taken notice of the difficulties of Afghan nationals in Pakistan and empowered the regional passport office in Peshawar to extend the visa duration of Afghans. A statement of the Interior Ministry said the purpose of the step is to reduce the difficulties of Afghan refugees and facilitate the people who want to enter Pakistan after fulfilling legal requirements.
Meanwhile, Afghan ambassador to Pakistan Umar Zakhilwal said on his Twitter account that the Pak-Afghan border may be partially opened today (Saturday) and will be fully opened within three or four days. He said the elderly people, women and children stranded due to closure of the border will be allowed to cross the border in the first phase. He advised the Afghan nationals not to travel to Pakistan unnecessarily even if the border is opened permanently.
