Six suspected terrorists were killed in a gun-battle with police in Muzaffargarh district, said the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab police early on Friday. A spokesman of the CTD said that a team of the CTD Multan raided a hideout of militants belonging to the banned Jamaat-ul-Ahrar at Muhammad Wala, some 30 km from Multan on the western bank of river Chenab. CTD team laid siege and asked those inside the hideout to surrender themselves but the latter opened fire and hurled explosive material at the raiding party.
The spokesman said police retaliated in self-defence. When the firing stopped, six militants were found dead. Four others managed to flee. Police found hand grenades, pistols and explosive material from their possession.
