'Pak-Turk schools shouldn't be handed over to Al-Maarif Foundation'
A group calling itself the Pak-Turk International Schools and Colleges Parent-Teacher Association demanded on Friday that schools should not be handed over to the Al-Maarif Foundation. Qadeer Hussain Khan said this while addressing a press conference along with Adnan Kakir and Ghazala Khan. They also said that any such move would be opposed.
They alleged that despite the Islamabad High Court directions, Punjab governments Counter Terrorism Department is harassing and putting pressure on chairman of Pak-Turk Foundation Alamgir Khan to resign. They also alleged that the recent steps taken by the government especially by Punjab government is creating misperception about Pakistan-Turkey relations. They said to curb extremism and poverty Pakistan needs quality education. They said Al-Maarif foundation has no experience of serving in Pakistan at any level nor they possess ownership in Pak-Turk Schools.
They also said that respecting the Turkish government's decision the schools have already been handed over to the Pakistani management after Turk directors and teachers resigned some six months ago. Now Pakistani board of directors is striving to keep standard of education intact.
