'NAB adopts zero tolerance policy across the board'

Major Shabbir Ahmed (retd) after taking over charge as DG NAB Karachi while addressing all investigation officers, prosecutors & staff of the NAB Karachi said that NAB under the leadership of Chairman NAB, Qamar Zaman Chaudhry is committed to eradicate corruption by adopting zero tolerance policy across the board. He said that the initiatives taken by the present management of NAB are yielding positive results. NAB has geared up with renewed energy and commitment.
He said that in line with the vision of Chairman NAB, NAB believes in fairness, transparency & professionalism with the realization that eradication of corruption is our national duty. He said that TI, PILDAT, Mishal and world Economic Forum have appreciated NAB efforts, which is a record achievement.
DG NAB Karachi Major Shabbir Ahmed (R) directed all officers and officials of NAB Karachi to double their efforts and performance. He said that last year NAB Karachi was declared as the best Region in recognition of marking the highest number of Reference filing, arrests, highest recoveries both in monetary terms as well as in the form of precious government lands.
Discussing about his policy guidelines to the Investigating Officers of NAB Karachi, DG said that according to the Chairman's directions, all cases will be conducted transparently on merit. Emphasizing the multi-pronged strategy of anti-corruption NAB Karachi would reinforce the preventive regime particularly by facilitating those public sectors that exhibit increased trend of corruption due to non-existent internal checks and balances and compromised and fluid systems and procedures, resulting in pilferage of resources and wastage of national exchequer.
He stressed upon the investigating officers to make use of scientific investigative techniques and forensic evidence in order to improve the quality of investigation so that there will be no room left for corrupt to run away with looted money of innocent people.
He emphasized on the dress code and timing to be adhered in the letter and spirit. He further emphasized on closed co-ordination between Investigation Officers and Prosecutors.
