A parliamentary panel Wednesday sought details from Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources regarding the sale and purchase agreements signed between oil and gas companies and the federal government. A sub-committee of the Senate Standing Committee on Petroleum reviewed five year progress pertaining to survey of various districts of Balochistan to discover metallic minerals and petroleum related products, including allocation of funds and their utilisation.
The committee was also informed that a summary moved by Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources for gas schemes for Balochistan has been pending with the prime minister since long.
Senator Fateh Muhammad Hasani, who convened the meeting, observed that the federal government has declared all those blocks in Balochistan as no-go area where oil and gas exploration is expected. He said the people of Balochistan are stopped from travelling to their native towns in the name of security. He further said the federal government failed to make public the damage caused by nuclear tests at Chaghi (Balochistan). He further alleged that smuggled diesel from Iran is being sold in Balochistan by security personnel of petroleum companies.
