Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmood ur Rasheed of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Wednesday submitted Police Bill 2017 in Punjab Assembly. While addressing a press conference Mian Mahmood ur Rasheed called it an apolitical bill and passage of the bill is purely in the best interest of the people and the province.
He also said that PTI will contact government as well as other political parties for the passage of this bill in the assembly. He said that purpose of presenting this bill in the assembly is to depoliticize police. He said that Punjab police is a capable force but due to the political interference they are unable to perform their duties with honesty and offer people sense of safety and security. While talking about the important points of the bill Mahmood-ur-Rasheed said that according to the section 10 of the proposed bill eight member police board to be constituted to furnish suggestions to the police chief.
