Leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Tuesday said that Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan is levelling baseless allegations against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family in relation to Panama Papers. Addressing a news conference here on Tuesday evening, State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary said that the name of Prime Minister was not mentioned in Panama Papers.
He was of the view that the opponents are trying to mislead the nation in connection with the Hudaibiya Paper Mills case. The case is already vacated by the High Court. The case was decided in the favour of the Prime Minister during General Musharraf's era, he claimed, adding the PML-N suffered and faced punishment for those crimes which it did not commit.
He said the appointment of chairman NAB was made after consultation between the Prime Minister and the Leader of Opposition. He said the appointment of chairman NAB is as per law which cannot be challenged without any base. Neither can he be posted out nor can be terminated by the Prime Minister; however, the Supreme Judicial Council can only take up the case and decide accordingly.
Speaking on the occasion, MNA Daniyal Aziz said that the name of Prime Minister did not appear in Panama Papers but Imran Khan and his team is bent upon character assassination of the Prime Minister and his family. He said International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) has removed Prime Minister's name from it. However, Hassan Nawaz and Husain Nawaz both have accepted the ownership of flats, he added. He also endorsed that Hudaibiya Paper Mills case verdict was in favour of the Prime Minister and his family. He said that the petition filed by Hanif Abbasi against Imran Khan and Jehangir Tarin should be taken up as soon as possible.
