Steering committee discusses PKLI&RC issues

Issues like procurement of medical equipment, provision of utilities like electricity, safety and care, etc for Punjab Kidney Liver Institute & Research Centre (PKLI&RC) were deliberated upon in the 16th Steering Committee meeting of PKLI held on Saturday with Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique, in the chair.
Professor Dr Saeed Akhter, CEO & President PKLI, representatives from LESCO, Sui Gas, LDA, IDAP, WASA, P&D and the Health and Finance departments were also present in the meeting. The representatives of the Infrastructure Development Authority of Punjab (IDAP) briefed the participants on specifications for construction of building, including the on-going construction works like footing status, concrete work and various packages into which the construction is divided.
Khawaja Salman Rafique, Minister Health Punjab expressed concern over delay in the completion of utility services for the hospital and emphasized on the importance of timely completion. He said due to the reliance of one activity over another, nothing should be kept in limbo and everything must be completed without delay.
Public transportation, direction boards and telephone lines were also brought to light. Provision of a dedicated telephone line is being planned to provide unrestricted access to the hospital. Furthermore, LESCO representatives briefed that best quality grid station will be imported from China to ensure the uninterrupted access to electricity. Professor Dr Saeed Akhter, President stated that toll free fax line services must be introduced that will facilitate the common citizens.
