Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met with his Ukrainian counterpart and the Pakistani defense minister Khwaja Muhammad Asif on Saturday on the sidelines of 2017 Munich Security Conference. The 53rd edition of Munich Security Conference opened in the German city on Friday. Foreign Minister Zarif represents Iran in the international event accompanied by his deputy foreign ministers Abbas Araqchi and Majid Takht-e Ravanchi.
Also on the sidelines of the conference, the foreign minister have so far met with various senior world officials, including the European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani, UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukia Amano, ministers of foreign affairs of Spain, Oman, Britain, Russian Federation, Turkey, France and Slovenia.
The MSC is attended by 10 presidents, US Vice President Mike Pence, eight prime ministers, ministers of foreign affairs from 30 countries, ministers of defense from around 20 countries as well as the secretary generals of the United Nations, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (Nato), Organization of the Islamic Cooperation, Arab League and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
