Bannu lead as KP U-23 Male Games end

The second edition of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Under-23 Male Games concluded at a Bannu Sports Compelx amidst great fun and joys in the colourful closing ceremony with Bannu recorded a thumping superiority against District Tank. Showing their superiority Bannu took first position in 11 disciplines out of total 15 events including squash, volleyball, badminton, kabaddi, wrestling, hockey, football, gymnastic, athletics, boxing, tennis while Lakki Marwat secured victory in table tennis, tug of war, judo and karate.
In the tug of war Lakki defeated Bannu after a tough fight by 2-1 with Bannu won the opening pull, followed by Tank, winning two consecutive pull. In the Kabaddi Bannu defeated Lakki Marwat by 35.31 points in a thrilling match with hundreds and thousands of spectators witnessed the thrill-packed final held at Malik Riaz Kabbadi Stadium. In the Hockey Bannu defeated Lakki Marwat by 3-1. For Bannu Nasrullah, Ikram Ullah and Asmat scored one goal each while for Tank Shahid Ullah reduced the margin.
In the football event witnessed by capacity crowd in the Bannu Sports Complex, Bannu defeated Lakki Marwat by solitary goal scored by right winger Javed on the field attempt. Bannu took five gold medals out of eight different weight categories with two silver, Lakki Marwat won two gold medals and five silver medals.
In the volleyball final Bannu defeated Lakki Marwat by 27-25, 23-25, 23-25, 25-22 and 29-27. The two teams presented excellent display of forceful spikings. In the Tennis final Irshad Khan, Javed and Tahir defeated their respective rivals Rizwan, Yasir and Ibrar Ullah in straight sets.
In the badminton final Bannu defeated Lakki Marwat by 3-0 while in the Table Tennis strong team of Lakki Marwat shocked Bannu team by 3-0. In the Judo event the players have fight in eight different weight categories. Lakki Marwat won five gold medals and three silver medal while Bannu secured three gold medal and five silver medals.
Additional Commissioner Daulat Khan, Haji Meer Zakim Khan, social worker, AC Commissioner Fawad Khan, Director Operation KP Tariq Mehmood, Director Development Syed Saqlain Shah, DSO Habib Ullah (Bannu), Amir Zahir Shah (Lakki Marwat) officials, players and large number of spectators were also present.
The players have also provided full uniform including shoes, track-suite and playing kits besides daily and travelling allowances. In her speech to the media men, DG Sports Rashida Ghaznavi, said the government is very keen to provide all out facilities and that is why more than 36 grounds have already been prepared and would be utilized in these Games, while 25 others would be completed in June this year. Each of the ground has a land of 40 kanals with all updated sporting facilities.
