All Karachi Tajir Ittehad (AKTI) on Friday announced its drive for Thalassemic kids to help increase blood donations and set up test facility for the patients in the city. Talking to Business Recorder, Chairman AKTI Atiq Mir said that the traders had stepped up a welfare drive formally with a start of helping Thalassemic kids from old city markets.
"A mission has been started to help Thalassemia affected children with collecting blood donations and set up facilities for tests and treatments of patients with different other diseases," he said. He said that the traders' community would collect blood donations and hand them over to other welfare organizations working for treatment of the kids affected with Thalassemia disease. "Patients will be provided with free blood tests and the drive against the disease will be kept going," he said.
Traders will continue aiding the humanitarian organizations, he vowed, saying that "a first blood collection camp will be set up on M A Jinnah Road close to New Memon Masjid today from 1 pm to 9 pm". He said that the traders were aware of their responsibilities to help the society with medical treatments especially the kids with the deadly disease. He pointed out that the medical facilities would also be extended to the labourers working at different markets.
