National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Karachi, on Friday claimed to have nabbed former Town Municipal Officer (TMO) and two fake contractors of Town Committee Manjhand, District Jamshoro. The detainees were nominated and wanted in investigation being conducted on allegations of misappropriation of funds of the said Town Committee.
The accused Aijaz Ali Khaskheli, former TMO of the Town Committee Manjhand, and fake contractors Aftab Ali Khaskheli and Zulfikar Ali Khaskheli, were accused of misappropriation of government funds to the tune of Rs 120 million, out of budget allocated to the said Town Committee between 2012-13 and 2013-14. Aijaz Khaskheli allegedly misused his authority by planting his two brothers named above as (fake) contractors and all three of them in connivance with other accused persons misappropriated funds by awarding various works to the dummy contractors purportedly for carrying out various works (both municipal and development works) by-passing tendering process and making illegal payments to them in lieu of the bogus works which in fact were never carried out.
The arrested accused persons will be produced before accountability court at Hyderabad for physical remand. During preliminary interrogation they have confessed their offence and are revealing more. In the subject case on February 8, 2017, NAB Karachi has already arrested four accused persons Muzaffar Hussain Katpar ex-Administrator (BPS-17), Abid Wali Khoso ex-Town Officer (BPS-17), Pervaiz Dawood Rahpoto Accountant (BPS-14), Mirza Qurban Baig, Accountant (BPS-14) who are under NAB's physical remand.
