PGJDC to hold global expo in April

Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) will organize a four-day international exhibition from April 13 to 16 in Lahore. Talking to this scribe, Chief Executive Officer, PGJDC, Bakhtiar Khan has said that the company is going to organize international gems and jewellery exhibition not only to enhance the export but would also develop strong linkages between gems and jewellery business persons and buyers globally.
He informed that the delegates from more than 12 countries, including India, China, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, UAE, Spain, and Thailand would participate in this expo.
The senior official said a comprehensive strategy being evolved to enhance exports of gems and jewellery, besides to market Pakistani valued and semi-precious stones in global market in a befitting manner. PGJDC CEO informed that gems and jewellery export has reached US 1.18 billion dollars from US 47 million dollars during last few years, which would further boost in coming days under short and long terms strategy. He said that company has keenly focused on four major components including skills development, technology up-gradation and marketing and branding.
Ilyas Shah, Principal of PGJDC Training Institute in Peshawar said Pakistani gems and jewellery has recognised everywhere in the world. He said the basic purpose of exhibition to facilitate small manufactures and promote their business in the other countries.
Resident Director on the occasion briefed that exhibition being organised in line with International standards, whereas the promotion of the exhibition continues both through local as well as international level. He hoped that this year expo will break all previous record by setting new benchmark. He said that all set to conduct a successful exhibition in Lahore, while a full-fledged promotional campaign was also launched across the country.
