The Counter Terrorism Authority (CTD) Punjab has moved a proposal to the Punjab Home Department for constituting a joint investigation team (JIT) to launch a through probe into the incident of bomb blast at The Mall Lahore, said sources on Wednesday.
The sources said the CTD has also recorded confessional statements of victims of the blast which occurred on last Monday at the Chairing Cross, The Mall. "The confessional statements of the victims would be very helpful for the investigation," they said.
They said the investigators have forwarded finger prints of the suicide bomber and other evidences to the National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) for ascertaining identity of the accused.
They said the samples of ball bearings, suicide jacket and the scattered body parts of the bomber and other evidences have also been sent to the forensic laboratory. They added that the law enforcers are also investigating the previously arrested suspects who are members of banned outfit Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA).
They said the law enforcers have collected all the video evidences and they are investigating the matter from different angles. However, the postmortem reports of the deceased revealed that they had sustained multiple bone fractures due to ball bearings used in the explosive material. Meanwhile, people belonging to different walks of life also lit candles on city roads in memory of the martyred people.
