Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has said that the provincial government would raise a force of 2600 personnel for the security and safety of CPEC-related projects and routes. He directed to negotiate with NHA for the management and road safety mechanism for the Swat Motorway that the provincial government was constructing out of its own resources.
The Chief Minister was presiding over a meeting of the provincial Home Department, focused on the raising a full security and safety force for comprehensive security cover to the CPEC related activities and the proposed merger of FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the futuristic look of the province after the merger of FATA into the province.The Chief Minister said that negotiation with the NHA was the best possible solution because of the expending network of communication following the CPEC related activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. "Don't forget, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has a better future as it is to become the hub of all commercial activities, integrating the whole region commercially," he said. He also approved the establishment of a special coordination unit for the CPEC that would integrate the entire CPEC related activities in the province. He also added that extension of existing laws and system was the best solution at the moment for the merger of FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Advisor to Chief Minister on C&W Akbar Ayub, administrative secretaries of concerned departments, MD KPHA and others attended the meeting. Pervez Khattak agreed to establish a CPEC Coordination Unit with the proposed cost of Rs 49 million adding that the cost should be rationalised and all activities should be well netted. He also directed to prepare PC I for the unit to be reflected in the budgetary proposals of the next ADP.
Chief Minister said the establishment of CPEC Coordination Unit was essential for integrating the whole activities and directed to prepare a PC I immediately that would also be included in the next budgetary provision. Pervez Khattak also directed to expedite the process of FATA reforms leading to its merger into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa adding that the existing laws and local government system should be extended to the FATA because the tribesmen were accustomed to the existing law.
