Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Pakistan's (MQM-P) MNA from Hyderabad, Syed Waseem Hussain, MPA Sabbir Hussain Qaimkhani and Rana Ansari have demanded from Sindh Government to resolve the issues of HDA and WASA so that they could start supplying water and offer relief to the people of Hyderabad. They made these demands while addressing a press conference at Hyderabad Press Club on Tuesday.
"The employees of HDA are protesting for last eight days, due to which there is scarcity of water in the city," they added. They further said that applications have been sent to Commissioner Hyderabad, DC, Local Body Minister and Chief Minister of Sindh, but Sindh government has taken no notice of all these appeals and applications and simply employing delaying tactics rather than dealing with the issue.
They further said that PPP government is bent on punishing the people of Hyderabad for being voters and supporters of MQM-P. Sindh government is hand in glove with the elements involved in destroying HDA and WASA; the employees of both these departments are out on streets protesting for their rights for last several days but no one pays heed to their demands and sufferings, they said and added that government is playing with the future of these employees. They further said that rather than engaging them in talks and offering them relief from miseries government is doing all it can to render them jobless
They said that governmental departments owe two billion rupees to WASA, if this amount is paid to WASA, the problem of salaries and pensions could be solved there and then, but Sindh government intends to add to the suffering and miseries of people of Hyderabad.
