The Federal Minister of Science and Technology, Rana Tanveer Hussain, visited the head office of the Standards and Quality Control Authority today (Monday) to ensure healthy products to citizens with regular inspections and market surveillance. In a media briefing there, the minister said that the Authority has made positive efforts in recent years, but has a long way to go to develop a quality culture in the country.
The PSQCA is establishing new offices and labs facilities in Quetta, work on which will start next month. Recently milk came under its jurisdictions. Licenses to six brands have been issued so far and the licensing process for others is underway and is expected to be completed this month.
The PSQCA will shortly introduce the issuance of Foreign Manufacturing Licenses. The PSQCA aims to establish the Asian Institute of Standards in Islamabad. It has introduced a mobile app to help consumers verify authenticity of licenses issued for products. In order to ensure the authenticity of reports issued by the PSQCA, the concept of QR Code was launched by the minister during his visit.
