A media person was killed on Sunday when unknown men opened fire on a Samaa TV DSNG van near KDA roundabout in North Nazimabad area. According to police and rescue sources, the incident took place soon after the DSNG reached the site to cover another incident of a cracker attack on a police mobile.
Identification of deceased was ascertained as Taimoor Abbas, 22, as assistant cameraman Samaa TV. The victim received a bullet wound to his head.
Following the incident, heavy contingent of law enforcement agencies and rescuers were rushed to the site and cordoned off the area and initiated investigations with collecting evidences from the crime spot.
The victim was rushed to the nearby Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment, however, he succumbed to his injuries due to massive bleeding.
Pakistan Peoples Party leader Maula Bux Chandio has condemned the attack and vowed to make all out efforts to bring the culprits involved behind this incident to justice.
