Directorate General Customs Valuation (DGCV) has revised the customs duty of road safety products made of plastic. During the scrutiny of previous clearance data, it was revealed that road safety products made of plastic (plastic cat eye, reflector, safety cone, warning signals, ETC. falling under PCT headings 3926.9099) were being assessed at different values and certain transactions were on very low side.
According to the revised valuation, it was observed that declarations were of wide range and did not correctly reflect values of the items as traded in the international market.
Therefore, the DGCV after carefully examining the clearance data also conducted market inquiries to verify the authenticity of declarations and online prices were also obtained to corroborate the findings of the market surveys. Consequently, the DGCV revised the customs values of road safety products made of plastic imported from China at US $2.96 per kilogram. The DGCV has advised the concerned collectorates to consider the revised values for assessing the aforesaid items.
