That China's 'One Belt, One Road' concept has found a new currency is a fact that has found its best expression from British prime minister Theresa May's decision to visit China this year. According to media reports, Britain is likely to join China's landmark programme to invest billions of dollars in infrastructure projects including railways, ports and power grids across Asia, Africa and Europe. It has also been reported that China has dedicated $40 billion to a Silk Road Fund.
China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) happens to be the flagship of 'One Belt, One Road' programme. The participation of Britain and other developed economies in particular in 'One Belt, One Road' plan will surely brighten the prospects of CPEC. Pakistan's policymakers are therefore required to pull their socks up without any further loss of time. They are also required to make an effort to improve their work because it is not good enough. They must not lose sight of the fact that there are no grounds for complacency insofar as execution of CPEC projects is concerned. The Pakistani nation cannot afford to squander the CPEC opportunity away. We must start to work at China's pace.
