Saleem Jaffer was a tall lanky left arm fast bowler, who opened the bowling for Pakistan with the likes of Wasim Akram and Imran Khan. Saleem played 53 international matches for Pakistan, and has served the PCB as a selection committee member. He currently coaches the Karachi Regional cricket team. Jaffer talked about PSL and its prospect:
First edition of PSL was an intense and close competition, and the viewership and attendance went up. I hope the second edition that continues the same way. It is a great effort for the PCB to organize final event of PSL in Lahore. The effort to host the PSL final in Lahore is another step towards bringing international cricket back to Pakistan.
It is a good step taken way too late, but it's never too late to take a good step. I would like to remind the world that Pakistan is a great sport loving nation and has produced countless stars that have thrilled the audience. In this time of disparity, on behalf of all international players; we need the media to shoulder us in our efforts to defeat terrorism and make the games shine. Media is the most lethal weapon that can be used for one's own advantage.
In T-20 cricket, it is hard to predict, which team is favorite in the tournament. T-20 cricket is the combination of good power hitting batting on merit, intelligent bowling with variations, and outstanding display of fielding. But it's a game of nerve in the end.
The league though is not just about performance, money and feel-good friendships. It also tests a young player's ability to withstand the distractions of the fame-factory. PSL also provides opportunities to young cricketers to show their ability and if they are able to achieve the threshold, they can be a part of their national team, which will raise the level of their team globally.
