Secretary General, Jamaat-e-Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that the government was making false claims of economic progress in the country as the facts were to the contrary. Speaking at a seminar in the city on Tuesday, he said the government was basing its claim on the reports of unknown foreign institutions.
He said that in fact, the price hike, unemployment and recession were on the increase while the situation in agriculture, business and industry sectors was deteriorating. He said that the life of the common man was getting difficult with every passing day and only a handful of families were enjoying life. The FBR was facing loss of Rs 300 billion in revenue receipts.
While addressing notables in his constituency, the JI Secretary General said that India's provocations against Pakistan and atrocities on the Kashmiris were continuing. Besides, he said, India's decision to purchase arms worth Indian Rs 200 billion for her army despite growing poverty in the country showed her designs. He exhorted the government to frame a national Kashmir policy through consensus to counter New Delhi's threats and also intensity diplomatic efforts to expose Indian aggression, oppression and human rights violations in Kashmir to the world at large.
Meanwhile, Liaqat Baloch has condemned the killing of an Afghan diplomat at the Afghan Consulate in Karachi by the firing of a guard and called for a thorough inquiry into the incident. He also expressed condolences with the Afghan government and the people in this regard.
