Chairman of Pakistan Yarn Merchant Association (PYMA), Danish Hanif, has urged the Sindh government to announce relief package for the affectees of the fire in the M.M. godown, Zia Colony, Karachi. Expressing deep concern over the Monday's tragic fire incident, he said beside other items, a considerable quantity of polyester and cotton yarn stored in the said godown also gutted, completely.
"The majority of the owners of the said stock are small and medium yarn traders and our association stands with them at this time of grief, as they suffered losses to the tune of billions of rupees within few hours," he said recalling that a similar fire incident occurred last year in the SITE area. Danish Hanif urged the government that necessary instructions must be given to the concerned departments to prepare themselves to avoid such disaster in future. He stressed on the need to equip the relevant department with latest fire extinguishing materials and tools in order to minimise the financial losses.
