I am delighted to witness a new benchmark of efficiency and technical expertise introduced by the Fauji Coal Power Plant Project in our great country Pakistan. Congratulations to the Fauji Group on this proud achievement. The development of this Coal Power Plant and the efforts of Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Limited in making significant contributions towards Pakistan's energy sector are laudable.
Fauji Group is one of the largest industrial and charitable institutions of Pakistan. It has played an important role in socio-economic development and welfare of the people of Pakistan. The group has also delivered services in the agricultural sector. The quality fertilizer produced has contributed substantially towards saving precious foreign exchange.
Commissioning of this state-of-the-art power plant is a step towards achieving self-reliance in power generation. Such initiatives in the private sector are commendable and assist in overcoming energy shortages.
Pakistan's ability to realise its full economic potential has been seriously constrained by the energy crisis. Having taken up the challenge to overcome the energy shortage, the present government has created investment-friendly policy frameworks. We have embarked upon fast track power generation initiatives in Thermal, Hydel and Renewable energy sectors. It is a matter of great pride to witness the results of these initiatives emerging on the national horizon.
This inauguration will encourage local and foreign businesses to come and invest in Pakistan's emerging economy and take advantage of its hardworking and talented work-force. This project should also serve as a tangible example of the Government of Pakistan's facilitation and support to power plant developers.
