Activities of Karachi Port

The Karachi Port handled 417,816 tonnes of cargo comprising 297,797 tonnes of import cargo and 120,019 tonnes of export cargo including 11,855 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 297,797 tonnes comprised of 165,982 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,958 tonnes of general cargo; 39,040 tonnes of bulk cargo: 17,935 tonnes of DAP; 2,805 tonnes of soyabean meal; 18,300 tonnes of rock phosphate and 89,817 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 120,019 tonnes comprised of 80,968 tonnes of containerised cargo; 396 tonnes of general cargo; 12,800 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 25,855 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 11,855 containers comprising of 6,051 containers import and 5,804 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 2,121 of 20's and 1,944 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 21 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,135 of 20's and 473 of 40's loaded containers while 927 of 20's and 1,398 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were thirteen ships namely MSC Nicole, Prosper, Kota Lahir, Venice Bridge, Al Abdali, MT Karachi, Abbey Road, Bow Flower, Fareast Hope, Aeolos, Data Lucky, Langeoog and Wlady Slaw Orkan carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, DAP, coal, steel and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eleven vessels viz. MSC Nicole, Lissy Schulte, YM Enlightenment, Hyundai Confidence, Prosper, Vecchio Bridge, Hammonia Virginia, MT Shalamar, Bunga Laurel, IVS Gleneagles and Ant Je carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were five ships namely APL Coral, Cosco Fukuyama, Hyundai Confidence, Unique Infinity and Sky High SW carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while another ship namely MT Shalamar carrying oil tanker is expected to sail on Tuesday.
There were three vessels viz. NYK Furano, Alam Molek and Strom Rider carrying containers, coal and steel respectively due to arrive on Monday while six vessels viz. Taroko, Ever Diamond, Rio Cadiz, MT Quetta, CTG Bismuth and Ikan Pandan carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and soyameal respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
