To mark the Kashmir Solidarity Day, mass rallies, peace walks conventions and meetings were held on Sunday across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The day started with special prayers at mosques for the freedom of Kashmiri people and their emancipation from Indian subjugation. One minute silence was observed at 10.00 am to pay tributes to the Kashmiri martyrs.
According to details, different political and religious parties held mass rallies, symposia, peace walks, conventions and meetings across the country and chanted slogans against Indian government. The participants on the occasion formed human chains to show solidarity with Kashmiri people.
In the provincial capital Peshawar, a procession was held under auspices of Muslim Conference main Chowk Yadgar Peshawar, which was addressed by PTI MPA Shaukat Yousafzai, former PPP provincial president, Zahir Ali Shah and leaders of Muslim Conference.
The participants were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans against Indian forces occupation and in favour of Kashmir people. They also shouted full-throated slogans as 'Kashmir Banyga Pakistan', and called for resolution for Kashmir issue as per UN resolutions.
While speaking on the occasion, the participants said the government of Pakistan had failed to raise the issue at international fora in appropriate manner. They stressed the core issue of Kashmir should be resolved as per UN resolutions. They strongly supported the Kashmiris movement for their right to self-determination, and condemned the Indian forces atrocities and barbarism in occupied Kashmir.
A youth participant of Kashmir Solidarity Day rally told this scribe that all the Muslim countries of the world are needed to take the Kashmir dispute to UN and ask for immediate resolution of Kashmir dispute as per the aspirations of Kashmiri people and in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions. "If Kashmir dispute is resolved I hope so many other disputes will also get resolved," he said.
A rally was organised by Jamiate Ulema Islam-Fazl JUI-F Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter. The rally led by the party provincial leaders. The participants were carrying placards and banners inscribed with different voices. They also chanted slogans in support of people of Kashmir and against the Indian prolonged illegal occupation on valley of Kashmir.
JUI-F leaders on the occasion said Kashmiri people for the last six months have expedited their struggle for their freedom from Indian occupation. He vowed that Kashmiri people would soon get freedom from Indian atrocities as Kashmiri youth were rendering sacrifices of their lives.
He also condemned the house arrest of JuD chief Hafiz Saeed and termed the action as for the pleasure of Indian government, adding, Hafiz Saeed is not mere a name of a person rather the name of an ideology, which couldn't be suppressed with such acts.
The political parties' leaders also criticised the United Nations and world leaders for failing to resolve the longstanding Kashmir dispute. They said Kashmir was the jugular vein of Pakistan and that nobody could separate it from Pakistan.
The speakers called for the resolution of Kashmir dispute in line with the UN resolutions as well as the aspirations of Kashmiri people. "Kashmiris should be given the right to self-determination in light of the UN Security Council resolutions, they said.
They also vowed that that Pakistanis would continue supporting Kashmiris in their struggle for the right to self-determination. The participants said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri people would not be wasted and that their mission for freedom would be accomplished soon.
