The Steering Committee on Saturday reviewed the pace of work on hepatitis filter clinic and main project of Pakistan Kidney, Liver Transplant and Research Institute (PKLI). The Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Salman Raffique chaired the Steering Committee meeting at the site office of the project on Baidian Road. President PKLI Trust Professor Saeed Akhtar, members of the committee and representatives of the concerned departments attended the meeting.
The Infrastructural Development Authority Punjab's (IDAP) representatives and Korean Construction Company gave briefing regarding the ongoing construction work and other development projects.
The Minister directed the executing agencies to accelerate their pace of work and revealed that it would be beneficial for the people specially patients suffering from kidney and liver disease if the project was completed soon. After inauguration of hepatitis clinic in PKLI, the process of diagnostic and treatment of hepatitis patients would start, he said.
The PKLI president Professor Saeed Akhtar also spoke on the occasion and said that highly qualified doctors would provide treatment as well as counseling facilities to the hepatitis patients. The filter clinic would help preparing a data bank of liver patients, he said and added that this data bank of infectious disease would help check the spread of hepatitis in the society.
